Now, that game is just brutal. 🙂

After analyzing some master games in the KG, I must say that opening lines look like a lot of fun - in the process of converting to the KG.

The KG is possibly the most analyzed and played opening in the history of the game. But there are many lines to memorize in the KG opening system.

I don't know why it isn't played so much anymore. I suppose openings go in and out of style like everything else. The KG usually results in exciting play. Perhaps there are some simple sidelines that Black may play that I am not very aware about, and is why it is not seen at the highest levels.

Any strong player knows that the Fischer bust is a farce. The man played it himself after he wrote his article in 1963.

Simul game:

A paradox in itself: Fischer playing in 1977 against a computer that knew how to make moves (although not very good ones).

Lovely KG games in which white wins (not famous ones):

You've gotta love the crazy kings (although when I analyzed the game, I think I remember that Black has a winning line somewhere here)

No fireworks, but superb chess.

Queens going craazy!

Like father...like son (Not as amazing a game, but for sentimental value.) 🙂

Also, many average, and even moderately strong players do not have adequate preparation when faced with the KG (providing additional motivation for me to play it!). It can be a useful weapon. Even the very best players may lose in the sharpest lines.

Here's 1 where I made a bad series of blunders I feel I shouldn't have made (I lost this) I think I panicked due to not knowing the variation and thus panicked at all the threats thrown at me when I could have made some moves that might have saved me. http://www.redhotpawn.com/core/playchess.php?gameid=2529043#

why? is it because it is right in the middle of the board.

i can see you have lost a few games quite quickly. I suggest trying to analyse some of your games to see where you went wrong. looks to me that it is mostly leaving hanging pieces and not seeing what your opponent's plans are, that is killing you.

one thing i do suggest is using the "analyse board" and "flip board" features (to see the board from your opponents point of view), this may help you to see if your move is a good one or not. also try looking deeper in the consequences of your move, that "free" piece can often lose you the game if you are not carefull.

just try to remember that most of the games posted in this thread are more of a "what not to do" rather than good examples of how to play the game.

i would be happy to play (and discuss) an unrated game with you and see if I can help you to improve (but then again I am only 1350 or so and obviously not going to be one of the best tutors on the site).
