Chess 960 WTF with the openings

One of the most demanding positions in any Fischer Random setup is right on the beginning. How to proceed ? Now, there must be some more or less general guidelines because some starting positions are just uglier than another.

How should one examine starting position, and decide what his plan / objectives / weaknesses / targets are ?
