I was just reading the Paris post below and saw the chess cafe they have there. Very cool! Do these places exists in the USA? There are coffee shops in my city, and some may have a "game night" which includes chess, but nothing on a regular basis like these, and where the main theme is chess. Anybody have one in their city, because if I'm traveling I'd like to stop at one?

No "chess cafe's" that I know of here in Mpls./St. Paul. There are some places where chess is common, but none that I know of where it is a mainstay on a daily basis.

coffee time in Portland Oregon is pretty close to a chess cafe they play friday night and saturday for sure and I think most other nights. There are some really good players that play there also.

If you ever visit Europe go to Greenwich tavern in Brussels.A rather special café,there's no music and the interior is still the same as early 20th century. And there's chess of course!

Coffee time looks cool! If I'm ever in Portland I must stop there. I'd like to open a place like that in Rochester,NY.
