I seem to remember, as a child (I'm now 37), watching chess regularly on BBC2. The commentators would flick switches to light up squares while discussing moves. Anyone else remember this, or did I dream the whole thing?

Yes I think you are right, although my only memories of the program are quite vague too, The onle player I think I can remember appearing was Tony Miles, and I belive it was presented by Raymond Keane (apologies if I have spelt that name incorrectly)

I remember those games clearly. I`m a lot older than most on here. The program was called The Master Game and I have a book and videos of all the games.
The players commented on all the moves (This was obviously dubbed on afterwards).
This was in 1980 and in the final Nigel Short beat Tony Miles.
Keane did take part but he also commentated.
Another series followed but it was called something else and took place somewhere abroad. In this one Karpov, Kasparov, Spasky and all the other top players took part. I expect you can guess who won this.

I remember a RADIO programme on BBC, maybe around 1960 in which i had a tough time following moves cause if you missed one you were lost. I was visiting at the time from USA and I remember my little cousin running around so i couldn't concentrate.

Wasn't there something with Bill Harston too?
