so if it is not possible to get the board to function by clicking on it, an alternate method of making moves could be used. i.e. entering the move manually e.g. type d8 - b6 in an input box and then click a post button.

I found some Java based programs that are nothing but internet chess clients (Chess Partner, AVACS NetChess). They run on my phone (Moto A630) better than the browser.

Any chance of somebody writing a Java chess client for RHP?

On master level, I mated it in 22 moves starting with 1.d4. It did not vary its choices on my second effort, so another 22 move mate. I'm a bit disappointed.

Would you like to try and mate my Openchess for palm?

We could set up an unrated game here on RHP.

I have chessmaster on my phone. I can beat it about half the times on the adept level. I know it's not as good as you guys but at least I don't have to have opening help for that level anymore.

Good news! I lost to my phone last night. It showed some tactics to win a pawn (no surprise), then played a decent endgame.

hehe, I also lost a couple of times to it 🙂...it is a bit too slow but it can play good chess for a mobile phone.

I noticed that it does not go too deep in the variation, but it goes preatty wide..I mean it might see some lateral variations that you will not see but it will not go very deep with the forced ones...
Anyway, this game does not prove he is very weak...it is playable, for our mediocre level 😉

I previously used chessbuddy which I rated highly, but I've since upgraded my phone (Ericsson W800i), so I'm now exploring my options again as I don't think it's compatible with my phone anymore.

    Any recommendations?

My palm is an old one so it is not so strong, but anyway I think it can defeat any player if he gets careless or makes a mistake, I have noticed a bug, in certain closed positions if you attack a certain point in its pawn structure it will sacrifice its queen in order to remove the treat, then it plays for a draw.

I have never played with it in the maximun level(of course if i can barely win in the middle one) but I guess it will not do this if set in it, I will try hiarcs as you sugest.
