Anyone interested in some coordinated chess improvement activities for grumpy geezers?
  2. 15 Nov '10 23:06
I'm a grumpy geezer up for some motivation to improve.

    Great!

Still your respons opens up a flood of questions:

    Goals
    Whip&Carrot
    Baseline skills

I am surely the grumpier of the two of us but I totally lack your skill of chess and writing.

Hey Mr Magoo, I think you are confusing Greenerpawn with GREENPAWN34.

The former is about the same standard as your goodself, according to RHP.

(ps; I prefer the whip and carrot, but that is on Friday nights, definitely without a chess board in sight. ;-) )

Ahhh, Thank you for putting me on the right track!

    "skill of chess and writing....."

Actually if people would look and put two and two together.

greenerpawn is a better player than me and often (use to - a clue)
post funnier things than me in the forum.

Think about a can of beans and small furry animal.
Then a player whose posts are greatly missed.

    If only, Mr GP.

Back to the point at hand my grumpy friend - tell me your weaknesses. Mine seems to be late middlegame. I get into good positions and then mess up, time after time.

The same problem as Mr H's game.
  10. 16 Nov '10 21:52
My experience is nil, however, I would like to listen in and absorb some humor.. and some chess if it comes up.

My weaknesses are, well, MOSTLY... openings... I think.

    thanks,
managed to find his posts with a search here too.

on topic; the elusive "technique", turning a good game into a won game, any tips would be gold-dust.
