Is it wrong to claim victory when my opponent times out?
I know that RHP tells you send a message to your opponent, but my opponent has received several reminder messages during the course of this game because he always takes so long to move, and he has run out his time bank. AND this is the second time I've had the option to claim victory in this game.
I’ve claimed games before, but only in games where it was obvious I would win in the end. But in this game… not so obvious.
Just wondering, what is the etiquette?
There have been a lot and a lot of discussion about this topic. And the bottom line is claim the win if you want to. If you feel bad about it, or you enjoy the game then don't.
The rules are very clear and everybody knows them. So if someone moves to slow and you can claim the win, there is nothing wrong in doing so. If you don't see the value of claiming the win and you enjoy the game, then keep on playing.
Regards
PS
And by the way, I totally dislike the 'send reminder' option. If I play a 7 day time-out game, people sometimes send the reminder after 4 or 5 days! Why? I still have 2 or 3 days left.
Originally posted by luzhindefenseAll I can say is I was getting stomped by a player so badly that I couldn't bring myself to time him out, though his clock had run out and he didn't have a flag up. It just didn't feel right. In a few days he resumed playing against me, and checkmated me in about three more moves.
... what is the etiquette?
