Ponomariov vs Kramnik was a draw after 19 rather uninspiring moves and another insipid draw between Aronian and Carlsen.

Tiviakov has made the strange decision to put his rook on the incredibly weak a2 square to defend his c-pawn. I thought he intended to try and shift Topov's queen and then play the c-pawn to c3 or c4, but he didn't and now the rook on a2 just looks silly.

Is Svidler going to sac on f2? He seems to be bleeding pawns and I can't see how he's going to avoid losing a bishop unless he exchanges queens. Edit - he resigned instead! Victory for Anand in just 21 moves.

Now that Anand's game is finished the game to watch is Shirov vs Van Wely. Van Wely tends to get mauled when playing in these super GM tournaments, but the games are often very entertaining.

Now I am really annoyed. I bought ducats, which cost me 20$ because you can't buy less than 200, and they arrived just fine the next day. But now I just found out that I can't use them because I don't have a serial number. So I digged out Fritz 8 which I got a long time ago, but had never used yet, and found a serial number for Playchess there. I trie ...[text shortened]... 8! And besides, even if I did I'd probably have to wait a day again to get the number. 😞
I found out that it's at least possible to hear the archived sessions without a serial number (they cost 2 ducats each). It would be nice to have them live, together with the ongoing games, but I won't pay a lot of money just for that.

You can return ducats for Euros.

Another win for the KID as apparently Ponomariov has just resigned to Topalov. Maybe we'll see the KID come back into style.

And Magnus lost again today... What's wrong with the boy?

Topalov - Anand 1 - 0
I have no idea why, though!

Edit: On Playchess, it says "1-0 on offc. site - maybe they are too fast, happened before too." Let's see what happens...

Have a look at the Kosintseva - Berg game in the C group - crazy! After move 14, Berg had all his pieces back at their original position.

Going in I thought Anand.

Now I think Rad. Not because he has the lead right now, but because he looks focused, determined and is playing strong.

He's a man on a mission.

Would be nice if Topalov can keep pace until the final rd where Rad would face him.
Excellent!

Nice prediction! I am looking forward to that game!

Edit: The two people currently in last place are facing each other as well.

Disappointing game.

I'm one of those guys who thinks draws are far too common in chess. So much force is left on boards where neither player wants to take a risk. Theres more than one good quote out there about men who risk it all, to win! I just can't think of any right now... haha

To me, even though officially it was a 3 way tie, Aronian wins.

Head to head between Rad and Topo and himself, he scored more points.

Aronian 1.5
Topo 1
Rad .5

Congratulations Levon, Corus 2007 champion!
