Originally posted by sundown316yes, Akopian was better through most of the game (only 32 moves!). He killed Kramnik with a brilliant rook sacrifice on h7. Hard to see over the board, but clean as a whistle. Great stuff.
Akopian just took Kramnik apart in a most brutal manner. One of Vlad's worst beatings, ever.

Who is Ed Scholten from Haarlem ? Is he a cousin of yours ? He's participating in the "tienkamp".
Aren't you in some Corus competition ? It's around the corner for you buddy !
E.D. Scholten, and not Ed Scholten (his first name is Evert), is my dad! He participates now for the third time I think, he hasn't lost a match in the two "vierkampen" he has played, so he decided to go for the "tienkamp" now...🙂
I've decided I will compete next year, I haven't played many long games yet, maybe only one or two official games when the time of signing in came.
I'm playing OTB Chess now for only 6 months or so, but am improving with every game, especially on playing solid, so Anand better watch out next year! 😀
I will still be there tough, watching my dad and other friends, listening to some analysises and meeting some members of the Dutch Clan.

I guess it'll almost be like a Dutch Clan meeting in Wijk aan Zee ..... 😲
The English and non-Dutch speaking RHP members now probably think you're joking about your mothers name being "Joke" .... 😀
I wish your dad lots of succes !
Have fun ! 🙂
Watch that kid Carlsen (13 years old, Norway) in the grandmasters group C.
7 out of 8.
This is his game in the 7th round. He escapes like an Houdini and wins.
