That's the deeply annoying thing about chess. The need for patience.

I've lost more games than you can imagine from sitting in easily won positions getting bored and impatient and making blitz moves in frustration that my opponent didn't bloody well resign.

I recently blew a 45 45 game where I had a forced win of the exchange via a pin which was getting me a bunch of tempo by restraining all his pieces, was already a pawn up, and could then forcibly simplify into a rook v bishop endgame with that extra pawn plus a better pawn structure. So I started making blitz moves... hung the exchange back, then hung a piece, then hung a back rank mate, in something like 5 (or less!) moves over maybe 10-15 seconds total...

Patience! Bah!
