I was wondering which countries are represented most at RHP. I know there are lots of British and Americans. I've seen quite a few New Zealanders too. I've never seen anybody from Japan or China, although I think I played somebody from the Phillipines a while back. Also, never met anybody from France. Just wondered about the breakdown.

I think the place for the stat would be in the flag table in the help. Just add a column # of players or something like that and pop a count of the active players in the past 100 days (like on the other tables) in the column. It could be easily linked to from other pages that way, & less work for Russ most likely. A none would have to be added to the list for people who have not selected a flag.

What do ya think?

Shouldn't this thread be in the site improvement forum instead of the chess only forum?

Yea, interesting idea, drax. Probably should be ported over to site forum. Maybe i'll do that.

According to Russ:

I can tell you already that 40% are from the US (or claim to be).
12% from the UK
6% Canada
3% Australia
3% India

I'm surprised. I thought a lot more would be from UK. Maybe population has something to do with that. Also, I've never played anybody from India. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The US is probably over represented because it is the default. An interesting statistic would be how many "americans" have no profile. Then again, this website is online and america has the biggest presence.

I actually thought a "no flag" was the default. I remember having to go and select my flag.

Really? Hmm... Well, no flag makes much more sense. So I am probably wrong on this one.

Population and the fact that chess is pretty much no-exsistent in the UK. Hardly any schools encourage it or have teams or clubs. It's as un-cool as NHS glasses and spam! (in the eye's of the riff raff of course 😏)

Are you sure that the 'UK' count includes *all* the flags (UK, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland)?
