Hello,

I try to wait until I have a group of questions before posting so I don't become one of those annoying people who make tons of stupid threads.

Anyways, here's my questions.

1. What is OTB? I see the term used everywhere, and I get the impression it means real-life chess, but what do the letters stand for? Over The Board is my best guess.

2. What is blitz chess? Obviously it means fast or something but what exactly makes a game a blitz game?

Thanks.

You guessed well, I think anything faster than 15min is blitz although most common are 5 minute and 3 minute blitz.

OTB = over the board

Bullet (aka 'lightning chess'😉: 1 minute per side
Fastblitz (aka 'speed chess'😉: 3 minutes per side
Blitz (aka 'speed chess'😉: 5 minutes per side
Rapid (aka 'action chess'😉: 20-60 minutes per side (usually 25 minutes)
