I'm not sure that consulting a database is in the spirit of rhp.
Then you are asserting that the standards of correspondence chess are not in the spirit of RHP

Why not copy and past to you excel program with the ECO codes.
The database functions of Excel are too limited to handle the information available in specialized chess database programs. If you're too poor for ChessBase or Chess Assistant, then try SCID.

I think that outside help during a game is morally wrong.
I'm happy with people revising openings before games start and analysing games after they finish, but I'm uncomfortable with any interference during play.
I know what you mean.
I would do that to.
Because I want to earn every win that I get.
This weekend I will probably study the ECO codes every weekend and make moves on week day nights.

I just got done Copying and pasting to excel.
It took me a few days. Lots of Worksheets. 😉
I will check out SCID though.

I am going to go to my local College to print it out and make a Binder out of ECO Codes. 133 Pages at 10 cents a page.

I've already noted ina another thread that I was banned from one site for using a ouiji board to choose my moves.

Did you admit this in public, or did their mods detect it? I shall start a thread in Spirituality on this topic.

I was caught by sophisticated entrapment techniques, the details of which were never fully disclosed to me. I was dismissed summarily without a trial, but they were correct in their accusations, so how could I complain.
