we all have them, one or two games going that we're not learning anything from and the tournament group winner or clan challenge winner is already decided. i refer you to Clan challenge 57928 (which started when we both were about 1100) this challenge is over and im left with two games that i can't really be bothered playing, i don't want to resgin or offer a draw because of the hit my rating would take. i know most of you are going to say shut up and finish the games but in general what do you think of these sorts of games?

if you care about the points: shut up and finish the games. if not, resign. you can't both eat the cake and save it. your problem, not your opponent's.
As for Trevor game 35 I think that clan one where you played Re1 move.
If you opponent drags out the game then isn't that incentive enough to find the moves which end the game the quickest??
Stare at the position before you made that move.

yeah, the 1700-project is going well, although I just started two 1200p-games against a 1800+ friend of mine, in which I expect my head to be handed back to me, losing what, maybe 30 pts a game? 🙂 oh well, but it'll be fun. and if my game has really improved to 1700, it doesn't even matter, the rating will catch up eventually... (the point to remember thinking about those resignations, and their effect on rating)

I was indeed, probably around 3 promilles and going up. and a 5 day hangover from one night's drinking. that must've been some kind of a record... since then I've been infected with chess, and can't find the time to get properly wasted anymore. 😛

In OTB if someone doesn't resign and I got pawns, I queen everyone of them to teach him a lesson and crush him slowly. Since the game has a definite timer G/110 with 30 sec Increment I know that it will end within several hours so why not teach him a lesson? Of course on here, I wouldn't do that since a game could take months and that's to much wasted time.

Nice 51 more point to go. Power isn't even close but I guess he has that USCF hawaii tourney going on now, april 8 I believe.
