Anyone ever try "Diagram Training"
The idea is to take a Reinfeld book (1001 etc)
And study the diagrams untill the pages turn to dust.
Studying directly from the book...
Anyones thoughts?
solve them?
If you mean solve them, then yes I have.
It's called the La Maza'd tactics program.
You take 1000 puzzles and do them 7 times. Each time you do them, you get faster and the pattern stick into your brain.
You see huge chess improvement but after you are done you might dislike chess, like me 🙁 O and others also. They feel the same way about chess after doing this.

you have any thoughts on diagram training or are you just enjoying my name?
I don't subscribe to the del maza method but I do recommend solving tactical diagrams at your own pace at some time in your career. My puzzle book used to be "Combination Challenge" with over 1000 puzzles.
Check my blog for all the details about my chess improvement including the tactics part. Address is under my profile.
If you want to hate chess, dislike it, sick of it whatever, then do the La Maza thing. It tires you out!~!
I suggest you solve at least 5 puzzles each day. That will keep you sharp and lead to chess improvement. Not as much as La Maza but you won't hate chess.

did u solve from the book or did u set up each position on the board?
You can set up a board to but it takes to long. If you do use a board, set up the position and then don't move the pieces. Do it all in your head. That builds calculation.
At first I had trouble with mate in 2 and after I was done I could do mate in 6-7 easily in my heads. Some of the simple mate in 8 and 9 are also possible now for me. Easier to play blindfold chess also.
