{ Top 1 Match: 240/438 ( 54.8% )
{ Top 2 Match: 321/438 ( 73.3% )
{ Top 3 Match: 370/438 ( 84.5% )

I'll get round to finishing them off soon(ish)

I still don't understand how you come up with the 4 moves. Could You explain
it and how far can you go with his? Anybody?

P.S. Do you know if Carlsen ever plays against the computer chess engine?

Yes, but "favourite games" collection is not the same as objective selection.
I can pick favourite games of Weyerstrass & find either blatant engine use or evidence that he may well not have used an engine 😉
What scares me is how we're these favorite games compiled... Based on tactical play? Scary that some of a master players best games would match engine play... Since there was a time when the best humans trounced the machines.

They'll be telling us what to do before long!

No, Magnus Carlsen NEVER played against a computer in his entire life... Other little known facts are he doesn't know how to set up a chess board and his assistant do it for him and he farts vanilla extract scented gasses.

You numbskull.

I wonder how well everyone on page 1 of RHP would do against Carlsen if he
played here. What do you think. Could we beat him if he played by RHP rules?

P.S. Do you think kingshill would remain the number 1 player?

You slay me.

Maybe kingshill could better answer that last question.

I know Carlsen or any of the World's top chess player would never waste their
time to come and play against us flunkies, because there is no money in it.
It was just a hypothetical question.

I know one thing, Carlsen would have a good laugh about your explanation that using the analysis board is the reason for your high level of play and engine match percentages.

Christ said, "For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with
the measure you use, it will be measured back to you." (Matthew 7:2 NKJV)

I noticed that yrddraig had a terrible matchup rate - only 31.8% Clearly a
failing grade. Maybe it was just a bad game for him.

P.S. Or perhaps he was playing like OTB players. Who knows?

Well I'm running Carlsen's 20 most recently completed games from chessgames.com which all have a minimum of 35 moves to see how his latest figures stack when the games are selected in the correct way.
The last analysis I was aware of was

{ Carlsen, Magnus (Games: 9) } Nanjing 2009
{ Top 1 Match: 200/335 ( 59.7% )
{ Top 2 Match: 256/335 ( 76.4% )
{ Top 3 Match: 283/335 ( 84.5% )
{ Top 4 Match: 298/335 ( 89.0% )

{ Carlsen, Magnus (Games: 9) } Morelia 2007
{ Top 1 Match: 186/325 ( 57.2% )
{ Top 2 Match: 245/325 ( 75.4% )
{ Top 3 Match: 279/325 ( 85.9% )
{ Top 4 Match: 293/325 ( 90.2% )

Which are objective (but rather small) tourney samples.
The match rates are exactly what I'd expect the world's best player to produce.

We shall see what happens with a batch of 20 most recent games...
