Do you think my calculation and tactical ability will increase if I study checkmates?
now i know that sounds silly and most will say yes.
But remember these are checkmate tactics....not regular tactics to win a pawn or the exchange or even material.
So the question is....If I study checkmates will I get better at winning that extra pawn or the exchange etc etc??

Periodically, you will be put into a position and you will recognize the patteren and be better prepared to find the winning attack.
So yes, it will help.
