Does anyone play the Dutch Defense. For those who don't know, it's 1.d4 f5.

Not at all. The Dutch Stonewall is one of the most solid defences that black has against d4. Even the Dutch Leningrad is fairly slow and positional.

I love it but I can't play from white's side. It's awkward, I do not any plans so I just shuffle pieces. 🙁

However, I know the basic Stonewall formation and the importance of the advancement of the e5 when you are playing Classical or Leningrad. I just know some other basic plans.

I had difficulty against the stonewall for a long time. Now i just dont play for too much. I play g3 and Bg2 and after 0-0 at some point c4xd5 then Rc1 and the if doubling rooks is no good ,then a3 b4 begins a minority attack. Basically the idea is to just attack on the Q side the same as in most QGD variations. with the B on g3 and blacks light squared bishop weak; white should have a good game.

I don't want to play that defense if I think it is risky to use as defense..😕

I play the Stonewall as black (by transposition)... don't have the courage to play 1. ...f5 and try to dodge all the offbeat replies.

The Stonewall as white is bad because of the K.I.D.-- good against the unwary, though.

Why do you ask?
