If there are statistics regarding such a subject it's unknown to me. Perhaps you could begin a ground breaking work, though it would be a Herculean undertaking. An educated guess would be that both d4 and e4 have been given pretty equal attention. Don't forget to include c4 and Nf3, though these tend to be transpositional.😲

Anybody know statistics on win draw loss for e4 against d4?It would really intrest me 🙄
If no-one else does it in the next few days send me a message and I'll install Chessbase and the 2003 Big Database on one of my ultra-fast dev machines at work and leave it running over the weekend.

This may be a serious indicator... I have Fritz Powerbook 2002 and came to the following figures:
1. e4 = 279,629 games
1. d4 = 236,330 games
which was my guess anyway. 1. e4 played a liitle bit more than 1. d4.
Is this of any help to you?

Anyway,thanks for the effort.It's greatly appreciated😀
Originally posted by SirLoseALotI don't have any statistics, but with the numbers given by Jan Pot (which seem very reasonable to me) , you can expect more or less the same winning percentage for white in both. Gil.

That comes close enough😏

1.d4 = 36 through 46%
1.e4 = 34 through 47%
Does this make sense to you et al.?
