How do you email somebody? There's usually a thing you can click on to email them when time is running out . There's just a skull and he/she won't get a message til he/she comes back on the site. It's very tempting to claim the win cos it has been a move a day and I like quick games but the game is only a couple of moves in and wouldn't feel right (even though there's over 100 rating difference and I could do with the points after a bad run of losses).

I feel that if an opponent's time has run out and that skull appears, he has lost. He knows the rules and there's no need to remind him.
Click that skull!

If you want send them a PM by clicking on their name and then selecting Message {insert name}.

If the shoe was on the other foot would they do the same for you?

It's only about an hour over the time limit and the game about 3 moves in though. I would like to start another game as well. I have 5 in progress but I keep one for a friend I regularly play. It is tempting...

I could send a PM but he/she wouldn't get it til they came back and would move anyway.

But then what if other people claim timeouts and his rating drops? I'd get less points. Decisions, decisions.

I don't get emails for PMs. Don't know how to send a move reminder. I want to start another game. Or at least play the ones in progress.

Also, I've claimed timeouts before only for them to move not long after so I feel bad... If I'd just waited.
But then I want to play chess now and nobody else is moving.

When a problem comes along
You must click it
Before the cream sits out too long
You must click it
When somethings going wrong
You must click it

Now click it
Into shape
Shape it up
Get straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect it
Its not too late
To click it
click it good

When a good time turns around
You must click it
You will never live it down
Unless you click it
No one gets away
Until they click it

I say click it
click it good
I say click it
click it good

So you're saying claim the win? I think I might just so I can play chess.
Would it be courteous to PM to explain why and apologise?

Also, for future reference, and to answer my original question, is there a way to email an opponent?

yes, click the skull. the skull wants to be clicked, it makes it happy. if you don't click it, it'll silently weep in the night, all alone. :'(

there's no way to email via rhp, but you can send a private message if you like.

I've noticed an "email opponent"-type icon before when time is running out, but not when it has and there's a skull.
