white to move

Can white resolve the problem of black's passed a-pawn?

E4 E5 onwards to E8. For every black King move, the white king moves towards the A file black pawn to stop it. If no black King moves occur, the white pawn on the E file gets there first, and has the King in check, but in any case ends up with more material.

Nice. Self-burial.

Is that your solution, or a comment on the other poster?

My solution. The other poster's doesn't work: the e-pawn and the king cannot move simultaneously. White's peace (after e4 -> e8 and capture) is on h4.

I love that one. I bet ya, he planned it all, because if black has one tempo more it would be checkmate!

Kg3, Kh4, g3 shutting the door to white's house.

1.Kg3 fails

white must create a threat that forces black to eliminate the e-pawn first.

Fine fine, push the e pawn and once it's gone then play Kg3, Kg4 g3.

In the problems I have seen there is not e pawn!
