Game 3156420

Missed mate in one and even considered the move and tossed it out because it was bad!

EDIT: Move 25. ... Nb4 where Nxf4# 🙁

Yep, this has to be one of my worst games ever Game 2956699. Not content with failing to spot 14. Bxe7 which wins by force. I then went on to miss mate in one, my opponent didn't...

Heh, at least you still won it. I've had a couple defeats where in the postmortem my computer analysis tells me I missed chances to mate.

Of course, in one case it was a mate in 6, which is kinda beyond my powers of calculation 🙂 . But the one with a mate in 2 had me kicking myself for a few hours.

And it seems weird that you see these things the split second AFTER you hit submit. I mean it was no longer that a nano second after I hit submit that I saw it was mate. I suppose this is why they say to take more than 20 seconds to analyze a position. 21 seconds seems to be the sweet spot. 😀

Yes, I feel dumb sometimes. I had two easy wins at club yesterday against weaker players that I threw out the window.

yeah I missed a mate in one yesterday too. Simply because I had two potential mate in two's (based on opponents move) in my my notebook. When the only "saving" move was played it went from mate in two to mate in one and not having any anlysis written, I just played the first good looking move I saw which will allow the game to strech out for quite some time.

He was lucky though it could have been a completely different story if his opponent had not blundered on move 30 by playing p x R, he should have played Q x B check. He can then take the rook afterwards and has his queen on top of his opponents king
