Its also very similar to KID so you dont have to learn two completely different openings against e4 and d4.
Just wondering why you choose to play--or have chosen to give up on--the Pirc as Black (1.e4 d6 for those who don't know.)
i'm not much of a pirc player i played it at first because i knew it was hard for higher rated players to dominate me. i like the sicilian better because it has way more counterplay and attacking chances for black. also i love playing kid lines which are similar to the pirc and sometimes transpose when the center is closed the game is mine!!! or drawn.

Seirawan recommends it vs. e4 in his 'Winning Chess Openings' book. He recommends the KID vs. d4. I've heard you can play the Pirc vs. both e4 and d4. That would be nice. Would you say the Pirc is more tactical or strategical?
Game 2261780
It can be tactical or positional - depends on what white plays, the Austrian tends to be tactical, the Classical tends to be positional.
Improvements for me are at 24.Kb1! +- and 27.Qc3 -+ - both evals. according to F9.
Originally posted by pinkthunderStrategical and tactical are twins, you can't have one without the other....theres no such thing as a just tactical game or just strategical...-.-
