I've noticed that whenever I fianchetto my bishop my games are always much more dynamic and it allows me a lot more tactical possibilites. However, I've also run into trouble as the fianchettoed bishop becomes an easy target for a trade, which basically causes me to have a huge hole around my castled position, which I've learned is prime terriotory for a bishop or queen to just lodge themselves.

I guess I am looking for advice dealing with my fianchettoed positions. When is it good to have a fianchettoed bishop? What kind of central pawn structure should I develop around this position? And are there any tips to managing this position?

Fianchettos are bad in some openings. I would suggest if you dont already use an openings database or opening books etc to get moves that are in book, and so you wont finachetto when its bad. I cant really help you on how to make the best use of them though when they are good

I like openings with fiancetos. Especially playing black.
