I am referring to intensity of effort during the allotted and naturally limited time, not total amount. Although, it's of course quite different and not really comparable. I can't start moving pieces to check tactics or pull out a database and nor do I have anywhere near as much time as is possible in CC. However, many CC do put less time in CC than OTB. I am one example of this.

I'll put my .05 cents in. On this site I peaked at around 1600. OTB I have no official rating. A short while ago I had the opportunity to play against a few people who did have CFC ratings (the Canadian FIDE equivalent).

I lost every single game.

Their ratings? The highest was in the upper 1300's. The lowest rated guy claimed he had a rating of about 1250. So apparently my RHP 1600 powers can't even beat a 1250 OTB rated fellow. ;_;

Ratings at this site can be skewed due to the people that you play. If you choose to play low rated players so that you win a vast majority of your games, your rating is going to be higher than it really should be.
