A year ago I read that Mr McDonald, who directed King of Scotland, was going to direct a film about Bobby Fischer called "Bobby Fischer Goes to War" based on the book with the same name.

Now however I heard that the film has been cancelled since Hollywood like all other industries has been affected by the economic slowdown.

Does anyone know if this is true?

I think you'll find many films are going to be cancelled in the months to come. This economic mess is getting downright ugly.😳

According to imdb.com, the film's scheduled to appear in 2010. But maybe the listing isn't up to date....

Off topic, but how was that book?

As you say according to imdb the film is still scheduled and that is why I am confused myself. If one searches for the film on google there is no information saying it is in fact cancelled.

I have not read the book unfortunetely.

I'd love to see the film of the '72 match that Chester Fox has.

He filmed 90% of the match but Fuscher stopped him from using the film.

Still think there never has and most likely never will be a good film about chess.

How can they put across on film how we chess players feel about the game.

I thought the book was okay, although I found myself wishing it was more pages so more details could be filled in. It's definitely a "word" book - Only one chess diagram in the entire book, and that one was Bobby's trapped bishop blunder (Bxh2).
