Crocrew has finally been removed from my games list (engine use). No points for me, but I guess clan got wins. In the meanwhile, Trains44 is banned for engine use. I checked and yup i lost two games to Trains44 way back when. Seems like engine users can only drop your rating, even when they are discovered. Oh, well, c'est la vie.
A thought occurred to me. Why do we hide engine users behind the site map? Many people are surprised when they find out in the forums that one of their opponents has been banned. (i know i have). I think their names should be posted on the intro page (and their pictures if they have any) on the same principle they left bodies hanging on bridges during Elizabethan times--as an object lesson to others.
obedience by terror, climate of fear. now there's a thought that's been tried throughout the history of mankind. never really brought much happiness.
I prefer the low profile approach. although there probably should be information available for the parties concerned. I'm not sure others even need to know if someone is booted. and even the wrong-doers have some rights, I'm not sure how ignoring them makes this better for all others. it's only a game, and cheating really doesn't have any concrete repercussions here. nobody loses money, nor is anybody's properties harmed. even psychic discomfort from playing an engine user is debatable. (ie. "I played a 2200 player, who played like a 2200 player, and now I feel so cheated" ) - the less disruption, the better.

Originally posted by buddy2I'm not at all shocked that Trains turned out to be an engine user. Remember this thread?

I've never seen someone with that high a rating, steadfastly refuse to believe that a simple bishops-of-opposite-color endgame was drawn, to the point where it had to be PROVEN to him on the chess board.
My but that thread is shocking. You don't event have to have studied endgames, just analyze the position, how will you possibly advance the pawn? A 1400 player should be able to reason it out, a 1900...
Then again, I am shocked at how little some people know about endgames. For instance I simplified into an endgame 2 months back where I had a pawn on the b4(as white) and my king on d6. My opponent was convinced (his turn to move) that since his king was on d8 and could get in front of the pawn that the game would be a draw. He was a 1500 player. He did thank me for the information afterwards and wasn't rude about having to play out the game though.
