Every Spring there is a team tournament on the ICC where all the top collegiate teams in the country get to show down in 90' 30" games. This round we (Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio) had an easy pairing against the University of Utah. Here is my first round game:
Some thoughts
6...e5?! intends the sequence with 10...Nxe4, but none of it works.
12...Be6? is a mistake, the normal move is 12...Kh8, but then 13. Bf7! Rf8 (13...Rd7? 14. Nd5+-) 14. Nxg6+! is winning for White.
Finally, 17....Bxc4 loses even more material, but he was already busted.
I don't post this game because it's good, but to save face for when I get paired against one of UTD's or UMBC's GM's and get massacred. 😀
