Has Fischer ever played Kasparov in a tournament match?

If so, what was the score?

If they haven't, what would the score be in, say, a 10 game match??

They've never played each other. I think Fischer would have a chance, but realistically Kasparov would have won such a match.

As great of a player fischer was, I do think he woulldn't have won. Look at history. Take Michael Jordan for example. He was great in his time, but he rasied the bar for future generations. Even in his prime, I don't think he would stand a chance against players of today. Same here, Fischer was Extroardinary, but he also raised the bar, and I don't think he would have gotten the best of that matchup.

It's impossible to say because it's not going to happen - two players of different generations playing each other at their peak. We can conjecture only.

Fischer never lost a match; Kasparov's record in match play is uninspiring and he collapsed against the machines. Fischer wins easily, though maybe Kasparov wins a game (something he couldn't do against Kramnik).

Is that not what I have done?

It's uncompareable . Since , they lived in different generatons , the only way possibly , to check , who's the better one is through the FIDE/ELO rating system but the point is , Fischer doesn't play anymore , he's in prison (poor old guy,he's 61) and kasparov is a russian politician who's getting eggs and ketchup thrown at him by children . They were awesome before , but now THEY'VE QUITTED CHESS. Although , Fischer might bust out of jail and become champion again , he has half of the world supporting him.

Yes. If I was to do so I would say Fischer would have taken it, because he was so far ahead in his time and he worked against the odds. I'm not convinced, though.

Fischer now lives in Iceland with a passport. Far away from the USA. His country which still wants to put him in jail for some meaningless contravention years ago. Today, he's a has-been and a crackpot. I just wish he'd written more and wish he would do so now.

ELOs then and now are not comparable - they've got inflated over the years.

Since kasparov is the strongest chess player ever, he would have won...

I think it's got to be Kaspy. Fischer was great, but as said earlier, he's raised the bar. Kasparov is a much more rounded player than Fischer.

OK.

Let's put it another way.

When they were both at their prime, which was the stronger chess player?
