Adam Warlock in another post regrets missing a flashy finish.

What about this OTB flashy finish. I gambled he would take
the Rook for a 'Cool Win' this could have ended in tears.
(13.g3 holds is what I have written in my notebook)

Go for it if you feel lucky - I was.
But be prepared to accept the consequences if it fails.
(I was ready to jump out the window)

I know. I side stepped quicker wins to sac the house.

That's what I'm saying, beware going for a flashy finish.

Sometimes you just have to do things. In Game 5221144 my 11th and 12th moves were clearly not best but I thought the chance of the quick win was worth it as my opponent was lowly rated and it worked.

I could probably find dozens of games like this where I've played inferior moves against far weaker opposition going for a quick win. Usually they work but just occasionally my opponent sees they are naff and I suddenly have a serious fight on my hands.

My opponent was actually a retired Colonel. A very elderly gentleman
who was wounded in the war and learned to play chess whilst in hospital.

This example is my worse case of playing to the gallery.
I have one that failed... I cannot show it. If I see that position
again I really will jump out the window.

Once announced a mate in 4 and resigned 3 moves later.
    That was funny.

That was a gorgeous tactic with Ne2+ and Rh1+. Sure he would have won the game had he noticed it earlier; but still- nice moves!

Not quite as flashy, but I was pleased to be able to accurately calculate the tactic which won this game:

    31. ... b5! was the winner, but I had to see that I was winning the bishop with 34 ... Rb1 at the end.

Is that on this site? That doesn't look like 2131 level especially from white.
