Does the fools mate really work? I mean like really really work... Other than a person who made a puzzle trying to find a mate in less moves than the scholars mate... How many times can you actually find some1 you can pull a fools mate on??? So back to my main question... Does it really work??

I've done it.

It was funny, because he really wasn't a total idiot when it came to chess.

He stared at the board for a while and then put the pieces back.

I accumulated a lot of wins using this opening. But that was on my Nintendo DS, in wi-fi Chess in Clubhouse Games against other DS users. Keep in mind that a majority of DS users are kids to teens, so they were at best novice players that fell for my leet opening. 🙂

EDIT.. whoops, forget what I said. I switched Fools mate with Scholar's mate. Scholar's mate is the opening I won a lot with on the DS. Fool's mate, never came up 🙂

It works when your opponent makes specific bad moves.

For example:

1. e4 f6 2. d4 g5 3. Qh5#

A slightly more subtle line from the 2. Bg5 Dutch

1 d4 f5 2. Bg5 h6 3. Bh4 g5 4. e4

and now gxh4?? or fxe4?? allows 5. Qh5#

no, not against any real competition. Playing against novices, I am sure you could win a few times. It is not a viable option in 99.9% of the cases. I must be served up to you on a plate....you cannot force it to happen.
