Originally posted by GrandmousterI don't think b3 is quick enough, white can take the pawn i think, or even play Bd3!? (unless I'm missing something!), as b2+ isn't a problem, as this connects the white rooks, and there is no threat of the pawn queening.
somehow b3 looks strong, White has no real threats.

It is black's move, white has just offered a draw. It is 10:45 pm, and black woke at 5:00 am.

1...Rf2 threatening mate on c2 with Qxc2#
a. 2.Qxf2 bxc3 with mate next, Qa1#
b. 2.Rd2 Qa1#
c. 2.Be2 Rxe2 3.Qxe2 bxc3 with mate next, Qa1#
d. 2.Bd3 Qa1#
What are the other 2 mates? Seem's like one is a trasposition of moves maybe and the other one involves a knight move?
Originally posted by RahimKMaybe there were only two basic mates, each with slight variations (Qa1 or b2 with a pawn on c3; R or Q on c2). Somehow after the tension of the game and lots of tactical complications before the game reached this point, I misevaluated Rf2 as possibly winning, and leaving me down material if it fails. In fact, Rf2 is unstoppable. Accepting the draw was a mistake, I should have won.
Well Wulebgr, I see one mate but I don't wanna find the remaining 2 mates, since 1 is good enough

I hope to do as well tonight; the kid is improving faster than I am.
Whew!
I survived my battle this evening with the Kid.

Here's my game from thurday.
Whew, I survived!!! I went over the game today and I can't believe how many mistakes I made. They were positional mistakes but still, one of my worst games. I got lucky and he let me off the hook.
I'm White (1706)
He's black (1768), same kind as your opponent, improving junior age 15ish.
I was expecting the 4...Bf5 caro
The following took place between 7 pm and 10:30 pm. Don't you love it? Just like that show 24 🙂
