Also, since Rybka 2.2 supports multi-PV mode (analysis of more than one principle variation at one time), if you configure Rybka for more than one PV before running the automated analysis, the output will show multiple engine choices (best move, next best move, etc.) for each move in the game.
And now that you've had your Arena main course, time for dessert! No Arena installation is complete without selecting a logo for your engine. 😏

Pick the Rybka logo you like best from the link below. (My favorite Rybka 2.2 logo isn't there. I'm not sure where I got it, but one of the others should be good enough.) Right click on the image and "Save Picture" to the same directory that your Rybka executable is located, then rename the logo file to the exact same file name as the Rybka executable (except for the file extension of jpg, bmp, etc.). The logo should show up in Arena the next time you run Rybka.

I see it now. In the Arena199beta5 it is in the "Engines/Automatic Analysis".
In this version, could you or anyone else, please, let me know how to choose multiple PV?

Thank you.

It didn't happen. Maybe the reason is that it's version 199beta5?

I had to download and install Arena 1.99beta5 so that we weren't talking apples and oranges. (I normally use the last stable version and don't stick my neck out for beta versions.)

Yes, it looks like they did change the menu structure a bit, but that's to be expected.

You can configure an engine for multiple PV in two ways:

1) Assuming the engine's already installed, click on the "Engines" menu, then click on the "Engine 1/Rybka" submenu (or whichever engine number Rybka is shown with), then click on "Configure" in the sub-sub menu. A configuration box will pop up. Now, in the top right-hand corner of the box, change "Multi-PV from 1 to whatever higher number you want. Then click on OK, and you should be ready to rumble with multiple PVs.

2) An even faster method: Assuming the engine is already installed and active (but not actually running!), move the mouse cursor into the engine analysis window at the bottom of the Arena GUI, then right click the mouse. That brings up a pop-up menu. Clicking on "Configure Rybka" brings up the same configuration box mentioned in the first method.

I'm not sure, it could be for one of several reasons. It looks like the logo install method hasn't changed from version 1.1, so it should still work the same.

It could be that since you added the logo file *AFTER* you installed the engine, if you want Arena to automatically "see" the logo file, you'd have to go into the "Engines" > "Manage" > "Select" menus, then unload and then reload Rybka for the logo to become active.

For the automatic sensing of the logo file, you might want to verify that the logo file is in the same folder as the Rybka executable and that it's named the same as the executable, except for the file extension. For example, for my setup, I just used the default engine name of "Rybka v2.2n2.mp.w32.exe" (I have a 32-bit system), and I renamed my logo file to "Rybka v2.2n2.mp.w32.jpg"

Generally, I think that the logo file doesn't have to be exactly the same as the executable name *IF* you're willing to go into the engine management box and specify the logo file to be used for that engine. For example, go into the "Engines" > "Manage" > "Details" menus, then click on the Rybka engine in the "Installed Engines" box. That should bring up all of the engine details for the selected engine (Rybka, in this case). In the box for the logo file (It's normally empty for a new engine), click on the folder icon and follow the path to the logo file to be used, then click on the logo file. Now the logo file should show up in the Logo box. Click on OK, and now the logo should show up in Arena.

Thank you very much!
I'll try that when I get back home. (And now I have to do some work...🙁 )
