    In your FEN, I believe your 4th rank should be "2k3p1" instead of "2k3p" (only 7 squares spoken for). This means the diagram should be:

    RHP's code isn't smart enough to end the rank after a slash; if it can't fill the rank using the characters between the slashes, it will use the next characters after the slash to complete the job.

    You are indeed the man BigDogg, I must have missed a space further up the FEN. So, people, ignore my diagram and look at BD's revision, the problem still stands.

    It's not but that's because I screwed up the original post and it's too late to edit it now. As Big Dogg pointed out, rook should be on b1 so work with the diagrams further down the page. Try to come up with a 3-move continuation too, working with best moves for black.

    The best that I could find was Nd4. This leads to # in 3 against all but 1 defense. Unfortunately, if black replies with 1...b5 then there is no mate in 3, at least not one that I can find.
