I doubt the engine itself will be that much better. They probably just updated the openingbook and gave it some new features.

Fritz 10? Do you have a time machine of some sort? When did it come out?

Do you have a website link of some sort? There is no mention of Fritz 10 on the chessbase website. What did you take before you posted this thread?

I'm with z00t. I haven't seen Fritz 10 anywhere; I don't think it's been released. (Nothing in the Chessbase Shop about a Fritz 10.) There's a Shredder 10 and a Junior 10, but only a Fritz 9, afaik. Where did you see it?

Junior 10 is terrific, or so I hear, but as the Putz observed, Fritz 7 is good enough. For my money, everything since Fritz 8 (when significant improvements were made in the GUI) is excellent.

is there a way to get fritz 8 to save to the game database the numerical position evaluations it makes after a full analysis? i haven't been able to find anything on it in the documentation. chess assistant can do this.

What makes you think junior or Fritz will turn you into a star overnight. At your rating you need a good book of chess, do you know what a fork is?
