I just purchased Fritz 7 and I was wondering if there were any engines or databases or anything that I should download to make it stronger.

Endgame tablebases improve Fritz's handling of the endgame a great amount. Of course they are pretty huge. I think it runs to 7GB for everything up to 5 pieces (kings included). You can generate them yourself which will take a long time even on a fast computer (this A64 3500 with 1GB RAM took 5 hours to do KBNKB I think). Or you can download them (danger 56k) from a site someone will surely have the link to.
Opening databases won't really improve the playing strength of Fritz however they will give a more human like range of games.

BTW why Fritz 7 not Fritz 8?

I chose fritz 7 because it was on sale for $10, I actually ordered it online so I should have it in a few days. Ok so I downloaded some tablebases, and they are a bunch of .emd files. What do I do with these so that Fritz can use them?
