    i just played this game
    and even though I went down in material early, I think I had the upper hand through out the game
    his biggest mistake was pawn to a4 in the opening...
    the hole on b3 is what game me the mate
    i am black

    I took a look at the game and there are some questionable moves. For instance, the a4 move that you already mentioned, 8. dxe5 seems a little odd considering that you blocked the diagonal for your Bishop on f4, and moving that same bishop between d2 and f4 several times in the opening resulted in loss of tempo and a under-developed position.

    you must be confused
    I was black
    i'm the one that went down in material and took advantage of a lead in development
    it's a big step for me, regardless of unimportance
    I always have trouble capitalizing on better development, and usually just aim for material leads...
    this was the first time I won when down in material based on a development lead...
    i had no idea what he was thinking with a4,
    i just took it as a free move

    Sorry I had it the other way around. In any case, White definitely made some strange moves and you did a nice job of capitalizing.
