I recently annotated a game for the first time, hoping to teach a new chess player. To be honest I stumbled through, not really knowing what I should be saying. I was wondering if anyone had any experience doing this and if anyone had the time to give me any pointers. I imagine the approach differs depending on your audience but I suppose I'd most be able to help real beginners up to your average rhp 1300 rater. If you're one of the many 1100 raters who's beaten me here... SHUT UP 😉
While I was doing it I realised what a help it would be to annotate some of my own games from as objective a perspective as possible to improve myself. This seems really difficult but I know some people do it. How should I approach this?
Thanks if anyone can help. Any input would be very greatly appreciated.

Scandium, you're a star. Sorry for missing such a recent thread, but hopefully this will draw attention to it. And nice to see the timeforchess colour scheme. When I get a few secs I'll have a proper read and hopefully post something for people's consideration.
