Ok, this is a thread were you can post games which by all rights you should have lost, had your opponent not let you off the hook at the last moment.
This game was against my good friend and neighbour Jay D. We've played countless times over the board and he knows my game pretty well. Having beaten me on more than one occasion in the past he rightfully fancied his chances and really should have won this game. I make a shocking blunder and basically hand him my Queen for free, only for him to choose NOT to take it in favour of an inferior line.
Game 982845
Can anyone beat it? ๐
The player who wins is the player who makes the second to last mistake ... First I found a way of losing and then my opponent - as he put it at the time - checkmated himself Game 909258

I've been let off the hook in one of my current games. My mistake would have cost me a rook and possibly a pawn, in exchange for a bishop. But my opponent was kind and let me off. If I get to a position where I think I can win, I shall offer him a draw.
How about the following game:
Game 976020
I was playing very well, I think, untill I suddenly gave my rook away. I ended up having 2 pawns as compensation for a bishop. Then suddenly he miscalculated something and I could force promotion :o
Game 817897 is one of many. Check out move 8 for both of us.....although Fritz is appalled with the entire game, awarding us no less than 19 question marks in total.
well my opponent didn't let me off the hook, but i sure let him off the hook.. i was down a piece but had mate in 2.. that is until i tried for mate in 1 and somehow missed his rook sitting there.... anyway i gave away my queen and am about to resign the game....:'(
Game 1063321
I suppose this is my most extreme example. It was soon after I joined, and I launched a poor attack leaving myself in a terrible position.
Game 480767
This is a more recent, interesting example.
Game 778098

I just thought I'd post this game. I had made some stupid errors, this was one of my first games back into chess, but suddenly I spotted a checkmate opened up for me. My opponent was not best pleased๐
