I spent a while today going over my wins over the past couple o months from yahoo fics and here. I was surprised that I could not rediscover any of my winning tactics and had no idea what i was thinking at the time i played the games. It was a hard blow to my senses.Anyone else have simmilar experiances?

If you think those are attacks, you've lived a very sheltered life. 🙂

Edit - Yeah, I guess c guy1 was a little quick on the trigger, but I don't think he's a bad guy. And I know Romanitus is a good guy. He was only talking about blitz, not your playing.

it is those who are quick on the trigger that do not think at all 🙂 *hint*

But yeah ,blitz is blitz. Personally i don't play anything less than 30 minute games. And to me , that's a lightning game! The nature of my original post is about looking back at the heat of the moment. Trying to understand why sometimes a move is a subconcience move that acually happens to be very deep and likely wouldnt have been found again. It's interesting is all.

As the rook said,I'm not attacking you.I merely state one doesn't really think much during blitz.

30 minute games aren't blitz, you'll have had some thoughts. No idea why you cannot recall them.

Sorry, I want to apologize....I totally spaced out on blitz games...I forgot you can save notation (I might start doing that when I play here)...but I do agree with your original post: it is often hard to find your original train of thought...I've noticed that when going over my OTB games

When you initially play these OTB games - as opposed to going over them later - are you giving the positions more effort in terms of time, concentration, and desire to find the best moves? Sometimes it is hard to reproduce this level of intensity when we don't have an opponent and therefore we think differently. If you're being lazier while going over, then maybe that means you won't see as much as originally. Just a guess.

I certainly have the same problem with games that are months old. I find that if I want to analyze a game with any accuracy, its better to do it fairly soon, at least for initial analysis, especially if you play a lot of games. After a while, everything blurs together.
