2) basic endgame strategy
3) tactics
4) openings

Well it looks like you are pretty much a beginner. Chess is a very complex game at all levels, but it makes more and more sense as you go on.
Basically, right now you should read all the general information you can. Like go on wikipedia and look at chess, chess tactics, chess openings, the endgame etc.... You need to learn the gist of the game.
Buy a chess program if you can afford one. I did a bunch of tutorials in Chessmaster 9000 and it helped my game immensely.
Right now you need a foothold into the game, and all you need to do is learn the basics.
