Nice analysis guys, I never saw your line Tomtom. Here's the full game:

Although morgski I never saw the mate, I only saw it as far as the rook win, very nice find.

Nice tomtom, completely different but equally deadly 😀
I think your line is better but maybe a slight modification will make it even clearer.

Round 2 from a blitz game earlier this week.
White to play and win (kind of) - white to play and create an attack probably leading to mate.

Is there a killer attack there? (I'm very tired at the moment so I'm probably missing it)

Still think it's a won position for white with the weak h pawn though.

1.Nxg5 {'nuff said} Qe7 {but we'll take the path of the non sac accepter} 2.Qh5+ Kd8 3.Nf7+ Ke8 4.Nd6 +[/pgn]
Yeah, I went on a slightly different route, was worried about 7...hxg5

It's getting harder to respond when you keep editing your posts 😉
Here's my riposte to your last edit

Like the new version, nice queen sac

Edit: You know I was supposed to leave work half an hour ago? - what have you done to me?

Edit: won't edit the pgn this time but you can even try 7.Nf5+ too but then the queen can play a desperado and take the knight so it probably wouldn't get as high an evaluation but against most people it would probably lead to mate quicker.

Edit2: LOL you should leave then... or stay. I'm sure you can put two office chairs together as a bed or some such.

1. e2-e4 e7-e5 2. f2-f4 e5xf4 3. Ng1-f3 g7-g5 4. Bf1-c4 Bf8-g7 5. h2-h4 h7-h6 6. d2-d4 f7-f6 7. Nf3-e5 f6xe5 {Pretty much forced- no acceptors get punsihed} 8. Qd1-h5 Ke8-e7 9. Qh5-f7 Ke7-d6 { ...[text shortened]... 11. Nb1-a3 a7-a6 12. Bc4xa6 {Possibly one of my best moves in blitz} b7xa6 13. Na3-c4
[/pgn]
So maybe 1.hxg5 first then play the sac on e5 or g5 depending on how black captures the pawn.

Yeah, that's sound and actually a fair bit better than my Ne5, opens the board up more. Nice find.

Edit: I managed to leave work successfully

Wow. I missed a lot of thread. I leave the site for a few hours... 😉

This was my thinking for wrapping the game up, continuing the original idea:

[pgn][FEN "r6r/ppp2q2/5pkp/3pPNbR/3P2P1/5Q2/PPP5/1K5R w - - 0 1"] 1.Qd3 Qe6 {Queen would probably move so she wasn't the victim of the discovered check} 2.Nxh6 Kg7 {could put pieces in the way but would pr ieces in the way} 7.Qxc5 {And we're back to the same two options black had above} [/pgn]
In the last line you don't have the same mate available after 7...Kg8 but it still looks like a win to me because white always has the threat Ne7+ and after the queen moves back white also has the mate threat too... all white has to do is figure out where to put the rook thats en prise.

True, hasty analysis on my part. Would probably do Qc7 if Kg8 in the third line, which sets up the Queen-Rook mating potential after Nh6+. I think we've established between the 3 of us that black was right to resign though 🙂
