this is a carry-over from the blitz strategy thread- Wulebgr mentioned this opening and I'd like to hear some opinions on it. I googled it and found David Gedault's opening on chessgames, but not much more solid info. what are the themes of this seemingly insane opening? is it refuted?
I want to learn it just so I can say I play THE HAMMERSCHLAG. such a name deserves all caps.
I might have to give it a go in blitz. We play tons of blitz at our club, so it's nice to have some variation from my standard openings. I generally throw in a grob or orangutan to mix things up. I'll have to try this next time. Honestly it looks like something that Steinitz would think up.
I offer four games in which I've employed the openin. In my only CC game, my opponent hung his queen, and in the second game here I was checkmated on move 11. Enjoy.
I tried the following a couple of times, but I think it is refuted 😉
Elvis opening
1.c3 ... one for the money!
2. f3 ... two for the show...
3. Kf2 ... three to get ready.
4. Ke3 ... GO!
5. Kd3... King!
6. Kc2 ... GO!
Though I have won a few (horrible) blitz games with it it can easily be refuted by normal play,
example1:
1.f2-f3 e7-e5 2.c2-c3 d7-d5 3.Ke1-f2 Bf8-c5+ 4.d2-d4 e5xd4 5.c3xd4 Qd8-h4+ 6.g2-g3 Qh4xd4+ {one of my opponents played Bxd4 here and lost}
example 2, I actually had this on the board against a much lower player, and I won XD
1.f2-f3 e7-e5 2.c2-c3 d7-d5 3.Ke1-f2 Nb8-c6 4.Kf2-e3 Qd8-g5+ 5.Ke3-d3 Bc8-f5+ 6.e2-e4 d5xe4+ 7.Kd3-c2 {yay made it ^^} e4xf3+ 8.d2-d3 f3xg2 9.Bf1xg2 Qg5xg2+ 10.Ng1-e2 (computer says +11 in his advantage now)
so, why play it? because its just fun to win in such a humiliating way 😛
