Removing check and mating with the same move, nice ! But your user name is so long that your star is sticking out of box for user name into the post. I never saw THAT in my RHP practice too. 😲

EDIT: stupid firefox

I don't think that's ever happened to me, or have done it (in over 5000 games, including OTB).

Very nice!

This is a nice little puzzle to give people to help improve their calculation ability - it is often possible to checkmate with knight against king and rook pawn as long as the king is trapped in front of the pawn - just a question of manouvering the knight around without stalemating.

I use Firefox and don't have that. However, I use the OS X version and I don't feel like rebooting into Windows to check the other. But even if it were there, it's probably not a Firefox problem. It's probably RHP not complying to W3C web standards. 99% of the time when Firefox displays incorrectly, it's because of the site designer not doing it right.

Anyway, that's a pretty mate.

This proves that it is possible to mate with a bare knight, if only the opponent has pawn(s),
Well done Tatarana!

on some chess servers (like FICS for example) he could have stopped moving on mate in 1 and wait until his time run out and he gets a draw automatically because you have insuficient material to mate 🙂

Blacks mistake was heading towards a1 with his King.

If he had not made that simple mistake (which presumably was his try for a win which was never there) then the worst case scenario would be a draw.

There is some important lessons here

(1) Unless you are sure your opponent knows how to win, don't resign. White could have been tempted to do so believing he could not win with a lone Knight and thinking the Ps would become Qs;

(2) It is better to take a draw when you are slightly up if you don't know how to win (black could have done this at any time rather than head towards a1); and

(3)This game has in fact been a book draw since, at least, move 50. In fact I cannot find any forced way for black to win after the exchange of Queens. So its important to know when a game is a draw and how to take it.
