Can someone please help. What is the rule regarding taking a piece which then means that the the king is immediately in check??? I have never come across this before .Quite surprising, How rare is this?? thanks in anticipation.

Not sure if I understand. You cannot move your king into check. So if a piece is pinned then it can't capture a piece unless it is capturing the piece that is pinning it to the king.

Post an example?

I Think this solves it, This is a game i am playing at the moment so cannot post this example. If i move my queen into a certain position then a pawn will take my queen, at the same time my opponents King will be immediately in check. I just want the rule .

No comments on the game please!! as it is still being played!!😕

The rule is that if your king is in check then you must remove check immediately. Either by moving the king, taking the checking piece, or interposing a piece to block check. I'll not comment further as you're in progress.

In this example the queen can safely capture the pawn on g3 because of the bishop pinning the f2 pawn.

Here it is- if your opponent attempts to capture your Queen with a pawn move which then exposes his/her King to a check, then that capture is illegal and the site software will not allow it.
