but Raven, I don't get it...
I haven't had such horribly embarrasing play since the 8th grade...
mind a game to try to help me get back in the swing of things?
i could use all the play time I can get...

No, friend, "effect" was correct...being a noun..."affect" is a verb. Please forgive me...see my profile if you will...couldn't bloody help myself. Thx.

No, 'effect' was alright.. I would use the word 'breaks' instead of 'brakes' myself though... bit of a different meaning there...

Effect is correct, brakes should be 'breaks'.

Yes I have experienced this otb. Our chess club closes for 4 months in the summer and although I continued to play online I found that it took a few games to get back into it otb (I'm not that experienced anyway otb). I found it difficult to compete in the first few games of our league matches (as the other clubs in the area do not have asummer break and remain open all year) in standard time, I would play a fairly solid game but then make a very dubious quick move from which I then found myself chasing the game. This summer I entered a summer individual league and have played a few standard time friendlys with other players from our club to try and avoid this happening agin.

When I quit chess and come back, I generally do better.
