I just played my worst two games of chess in the past three years to Dutch Defense
is this usual? after how much playing should I get caught up to at least my previous playing level?

Which game is it? Can you give a link so people can tell you where you went wrong?

and its not that I need to know where I went wrong...
I know where I went wrong...
I'm just asking if anyone else has taken this much time without so much as looking at 64 squares...
how long did it take them to bounce back?
oh, and yes, I am officially back...

I always play better after a short break. If the break lasts several months my play gets worse.

I looked at your first game and the opening looked solid enough but you advanced the pawns protecting your king tooooo far methinks. Not one with expert opening knowledge though.

18. NgG6 may have been a better option if your opponents knight was bothering you so much.

Sorry bout that.

Second game

7. Qf3!? Blocks your knight off it's logical spot.

Looks like you ride a downhill slide on the left while your king is exposed.

7. Ngf3 and then look to castle.

I checked out game one. Lots of bad moves man, generally it's not good to advance the pawns in front of your king unless the center has been closed. Beyond that you missed tactics (major tactics). Keep playing, do some tactics, some blitz...whatever just play.

Game 1. Advanced your protecting king pawns too far.

Game 2. Never castled in time(leaving king exposed) plus a silly move with your queen.

I wouldnt worry much as they are simple mistakes that youd fix in a jiffy. Just keep playing would be my advice and look for the feel of the game you had before.

i knew the horrible moves when I made them...
a lot didn't have a point other than I didn't know what else to do...
thanks...
that's what I was looking for, and that's what some other peole off the site had told me...
just play some and it'll all come back to me with work...
thanks...

I guess it all depends on the person. For me, brakes have virtually no effect on my playing.

Should that be affect? I hate these two words...they always mess me up. 😞
