There was a thread a while back with a link to a fictional game with about 22 queens on the board (can't remember the exact number, but it was a lot).

You can't have more than 18 (16 promoted pawns and the original queens) unless you change the rules.

Can't Mr Dogg and Nr Todd take their argument off line?
No offence guys but I think you'll just have to try and agree to disagree on this one!

I believe that the proper procedure is to stop your clock, and ask a TD for assistance.
asking TD for help is ok.

I usually put my pawn on its side. and tell my opponent on promoting, ITS a QUEEN !

The moment a rook or Q is taken I replace the "flat pawn" by the Q or "upside down rook".

In real competition the TD will proceed and find another Queen for you from another board.

Seems kinda silly to have more than 1 queen, you ought to be able to win the doggone game with just the 1 you started with! Although playing against some of you guys, I need all the qQueens I can get!

Thanks a bunch, this site rocks by the way
Playing for 30 years, didn't know that you could promote more than one queen?

You have to be kidding. I would hate too have my Queen given too another player. We use to just invest the power of a queen upon a pawn and play would proceed. It was up to the other player to keep up with the impowered pawn.
