I am playing miserable chess lately, and find I really need to learn how NOT to play chess as much as I need to learn how to play chess. As fate would have it, that is the very book I stumbled upon today at a used bookstore: How Not To Play Chess. Looks promising. Anyone read it? Good book?

Haven't read it but heard it's very good for average players.Apparently he shows the most common mistakes players make and how to analyse a position and formulate a plan.
It's descriptive, but I guess you knew that already.

Yes a nice well written chess book.
I've always thought even if you pick up just one thing from a book
that wins you a game in the future then it's been worth it.
Of course I have his 'Traps on the ChessBoard'.
He goes into details why players fall into traps and how the ideas
can be used in other settings.
This one book (and others of it's kind) have won me 100's of games.
You can acually down load all the games from 'Traps on the ChessBoard'. here:

A good site that one, it has the games used in loads of good books.

greenpawn, I wasn't sure if you meant it was "How Not to Play Chess" or "Traps on the Chessboard" that won you 100's of games.
Thanks, guys, for the feedback.
