1) How do I make that into one of those gameboards, and
2) What did I do wrong?
Originally posted by AThousandYoungI don't know if there's a faster way, but I manually keyed in the moves into my Arena GUI (the Yahoo notation is in nonstandard long algebraic notation), then exported the game to the Windows clipboard as a PGN. Then I was able to paste the game into the RHP post.
How do you do that?
You have to use the pgn tags in your RHP posts. The link below explains how to do it:

Btw, you got crushed like a bug at the end of the game. I ran the game through a 10 sec per move auto analysis in Arena, and Black saw all of the needed tactics and never really made any bad moves. Either you were playing a really strong player, or you got ground up by an engine. On Yahoo, who knows which was the case? 😉

[faq ...[text shortened]... strong player, or you got ground up by an engine. On Yahoo, who knows which was the case? 😉
From moves 2 through 5, your knight was attacked by his bishop and protected by your queen. This immobilized both your knight and your queen. Generally, it's a bad idea to give a queen guard duty. Your opponent exploited this problem by attacking the knight with other pieces including his queen which as also a pin of your knight with your king.
Originally posted by ParShooterThe Knight could move, and the Queen could move a little. This is standard Sicilian stuff, no? What should I have done different?

Looking at the game explorer, you were doing alright until move 6, which probably should have been Be3. According to the exporer, the line your game followed was played 10 games through 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 g6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Bg7 5. Nc3 a6
With 6.Be3, white has won 60% of the games. 6Be2 was an even bigger winner for with with a 67% chance of victories. The two games where 6.Bc4 was played were both losers for white.

Personally, I think that 14.Bc1 was a terrible move. Why not just take the knight like you do with move 15?
Move it or protect it with something less valuable than the queen. Maybe put the black-square bishop on e3 which develops the bishop and relieves the queen of guard duty.
Or move the other knight and play c3 to protect the d knight and clog the a1 - h8 diagonal.
I replayed the game. I think f4 was the big mistake.
Originally posted by EladarI agree, take the knight immediately, it is too well posted there. The white bishop is pretty bad anyway.

Oh! My Good God.
You know sometimes I think you people make up these threads
and posts just to upset me.
So let's recap:
A guy posts a game where he fell for a trick based on the fact
he had played f4, exposed his caslted King and got nipped on
g1-a7 diagonal.
Conclusions reached so far:
Black was a box user, Black was higher graded than loser.
White should have taken a Knight when it landed on c4.
I'm glad someone mention 14.Be3-c1?? a developed piece
retreating back to it's original square.
(I think it was Elador who called it 'terrible.'😉
Don't do that to Bishops. You got caught with your pants down
because that Bishop was not on e3. Good.
I hope the lsesson has burn't it's way into your brain.
('caught with your pants down'...."I got raped'....gedditt?)
But the main reason for the loss?
How about a developed White retreating at the first threat.
Here. Black has just played 7...b5
It's a Blitz game. You DO NOT retreat in a blitz game.
You whack twice on b5 Bang Bang. Nxb5 axb5 Nxb5
Look at it now. after 9 moves.
Big check coming on d6 (oh please play 9...d5 10.exd5).
Black positon is undeveloped and UNCOMFORTABLE.
You just sac in these positions without even thinking.
So what if you lose? you are going to have all the fun.
It's him who is going to have defend like a wretch in a blitz game.
But if you win, and I'm 50/50 here with White having all the chances.
Then you are overjoyed. It's a no lose situation.
and here: In the original game White to play move 9.
White played the meek 9.a3??
You do not move pawns in these positions.
You have moved all the pawns you need to move.
What were you worried about 9...b4?
Why are you looking at his threats?
You are the fully developed side - he has no threats.
9.Re1! Develop. Piece play. Attack.
and if then 9...b4 10. Nd5 exd5 11. exd5+ Kf8 12. Bf4 d6 13. Re6
(I'm playing one move threats - nothing else)
Look at that position he has to hold together in a blitz game.
"But..."
Don't 'but' me, there are no buts.
"Why don't you practise what you preach greenpawn?"
OK and this was no blitz game.
Clan League Game Game 5958184
"But you are a good player."
Bollocks! It's all been seen before, I got it the c3 idea from Levy's
Book on the Accelerated Dragon and the d5 sac had been played before.
I study the game from time to time, that's all.
Put your pieces on developed squares,
look at saccing them before you rettreat them.
(look at that 'rettreat' I'm even having trouble spelling the
word 'retreat' never mind employing it my games).
Don't post anymore games with Bishop undeveloping themselves.
Don't do that to Bishops.
And no more posted games with wee girlie moves like 9.a3.
Now get out there and hit the blitz site with the game plan of saccing
your entire chess set for a single check and an exposed King.
As soon as your last piece has gone - resign.
(The other guy will wonder "what was that all about?" )
Do it. I bet you pull one off.
You are bound too, you will be thinking, as another poster put it.
"Tactics, Tactics, Tactics."
